NEA RESEARCH PART 6- INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH

In this post I will be researching the media institution linked in my chosen brief (SONY), focusing attention to the type of company they are and the type of media products that they produce. In addition I will look into how the company ethos is reflected in their products which will give me ideas on how I can then incorporate it into my own production of music video and website.

SONY:
-The name of the company I will be making my product for is SONY Music.
-Sony Music is a global recorded music company with a current roster that includes a broad array of both local artists and international superstars.
-The Chairman and CEO of Sony Music UK is Jason Iley.
-SONY produced media products which are auditory as they sign artists to the company.
- SONY Music is an American global music conglomerate owned by SONY and incorporated as a general partnership of Sony Music Holdings inc, which is a subsidiary of the Japanese Sony corporation.
- In the UK, labels such as Columbia, RCA, Syco, Commercial group, Red Essential, Relentless, Black Butter, Ministry Of Sound and Insanity all make up the Sony Music family.
-SONY Music make generate billions of pounds through recorded music, artists and the visual media and platform.
- In the past year Sony Music earned over $2 billion in streaming revenue.
-Sony Music Entertainment saw an increase in revenue of 22.3% on the previous year when it made $1.7 billion from streaming. Also in 2018, streaming made up 53% of all recorded music revenue for the company, an increase of 44% in the previous fiscal year.
-Sony Music mission: "to inspire the world to do great things through the influence of music by promoting inspirational melodies and lyrics". 

Conclusion:
I will incorporate Sony Musics mission statement into my idea by choosing a song in which through my video and the lyrics it will inspire people by being inspirational, as music videos by Sony Music do.

    I - You need to be more specific as to how you intend to incorporate Sony's values into your music video, perhaps describe a scene? Describe a certain representation you might use?
